By default the subtitles are set to automatically display if they are being broadcast. The first thing to check is that you are on a channel which is broadcasting subtitles. The BBC channels are good for this with 80% of programmes being subtitled.

You may also need to check the Preferences on the Humax.

Press MENU on the remote, this will bring up the on screen menu.
Select PREFERENCES from the menu.
Select LANGUAGE SETTING.
Ensure that "Subtitle Language" is set to English and "Subtitle Display" is set to AUTO.
Use the BACK button to return to the television picture.

Finally press the subtitles button on the remote control, located one row up from the bottom on the right hand side. The icon on the button looks like a TV screen with a line at the bottom of it.
Ensure the subtitles are set to English as opposed to Off.
Use the BACK button to return to the television picture.

If the channel you are watching is broadcasting subtitles they should now be displayed.
