Can I change the way that the display looks?
Yes.
The usual display is a light background with dark lettering, however you can make a change in the main menu default settings to have a dark background with light lettering - details are in the user manual - you need to change 'Screen mode' in the first screen menu between dark - light, and then store menu to save the changed settings as shown below.
