Listening to the TV FAQ
I have connected into a SCART socket on my TV, but your product must be faulty because I can hear the TV programmes fine but am unable to hear the sound when watching a DVD?
Well the good news is that there would appear to be nothing wrong with your Connevans product. The fact that you can hear good sound from it (albeit the wrong sound) tells us that the amplifier is working. Your problem is simply that the connections are wrong somewhere.
Not all SCART sockets have both input and output signals in them (if you look carefully there are usually arrows marked on the SCART socket label, IN, OUT or IN-OUT), and with multiple SCART sockets you have to be careful to connect to the socket which has the output sound for the source being watched. Some televisions allow the SCART sockets to be configured in the TV setup menu.
Before we talk more about the SCART socket connection options, there may be an easier alternative. Does your TV have an audio out connection on the rear? An audio out phono connection is increasingly common on TV's, it is used to feed sound into hi-fi sound systems. being designed to be fed into a hi-fi sound system it will always ouput the sound from the picture you are watching!
Different TV's have varying socket arrangements, to help you we show some examples below. What you are looking for on your TV is a pair of phono sockets marked AUDIO or AUDIO OUT.
So our advice is if there is an audio out phono connection on the TV use it.
Note: if you are already using the audio out phono connection we have phono to phono leads which can piggy back to allow 2 plugs to use 1 socket visit here to see the catalogue page it's product *A114F* visit here to purchase.

If an audio out phono connection is not available then we need to help you sort out which SCART socket to use. You would be wise to read the user guide for your television, look for details on how to connect your TV to a hi-fi system, connecting into your assistive listening product can use exactly the same connection.
Hopefully your user guide will explain which SCART connection to use - remember to look for an IN-OUT arrow on the SCART socket ID to show that the SCART socket has the TV signal. If you get sound but the wrong sound then you may need to change the configuration in the setup menu of the TV.
If you find that the SCART socket with the IN-OUT symbol is already in use then we can suggest using an inline SCART phono splitter which will allow you to take out the audio or 'sniff' the audio without using up a SCART socket visit here to see the catalogue page it's product *T114JF* visit here to purchase.

Our next suggestion is to consider using a SCART switch unit to select specific inputs one at a time visit here to see the catalogue page it's product *T113YA* visit here to purchase.
Editors note, you may be wiser to purchase a SCART selector unit from a local TV shop so you may also get their advice on how best to connect up your system.

You might ask what our next suggestion would be, well I am pleased to be able to say that we have not needed to go there yet, so we will not here either!
