Dry and Store - Dry & Store -Dry 'n'Store

I find that rechargeable desiccant for my Dry & Store does not last very long.
I recently purchased two rechargeable desiccant for my Dry & Store. These arrived very promptly and I followed the instructions supplied with my Dry 'n' Store and prepared one by putting it in the oven for two hours. Unfortunately after two uses over four days the indicator turned pink, indicating that the desiccant needed preparing again.
Perhaps I am doing something wrong, or could the desiccant be faulty, I have only tried one. I would be grateful if you could give me some advice and help.
I can think of two possible causes:
1) Pulling the canister out of the oven too soon. Removing it when the crystals turn dark blue is not a good measure of moisture content, as it only reflects surface moisture. I'd recommend leaving it in the oven longer, say 4 hours, even though the instructions might say at least two.
2) Failing to cover the canister while it cools. Silica gel is at its most active when it nears room temperature, so it should be covered during the cooling period. An upturned drinking glass is good to use.
I can think of no other reasons for what you describe. The product is basically Silica gel and its performance rarely varies.
