Dry and Store - Dry & Store -Dry 'n'Store

I promised I would write you a short testimonial for drystore..
Hi John
Many thanks for your time and patience today.
I promised I would write you a short testimonial for drystore ..
I am a hearing aid wearer of some 30 years (from age 8), and have been wearing two around the clock for about 15 years. In recent times I have preferred rubberised flexible moulds as they hold their shape well and are comfortable. In fact they are so good at plugging my ears, I find I suffer a lot of moisture build up in my ear canals, as they cannot 'breath' well.
I tend to find this quite itchy, especially towards the end of the day. However scratching with a fingernail or cotton bud only brings short term relief. More often than not the bruised or nicked skin in the ear canal becomes infected and I suffer an uncomfortable bacterial infection for a few days (sometimes rendering me unable to wear one of my aids). This had been happening around once a month on average.
Before Christmas 2005 I experienced a particularly bad spell of infection in both ears and was fiding it tough to get rid of it. It occurred to me (and my GP) that the infection was passing onto my ear moulds and then back into my ears (back and forth). I decided to take action.
I bought a 'drystore' box from Connevans along with effervascent sterilising tabs. I use the tablets to cleans my moulds once a week (when I remember!). But I pop my moulds, aids and batteries in the drystore everynight at bedtime. The drystore gives the contents of the cabinet a quick zap with a gemicidal lamp and then runs an 8 hour drying cycle (but you can pop stuff in for shorter periods). The upshot is my moulds are clean, germ free and dry. My hearing aids are also bone dry (I now have no buzz or hiss. I used to get this when sweat and moisture got into my aids, especially the battery compartment. In fact the rust trace in the battery bit dried right up and disappeared!).
The most fantastic thing is that I haven't had a single infection since buying the drystore, and I now very very rarely get any itching. For anybody who recognises my story, I couldn't recommend this equipment highly enough, although with the caveat that you will still need to look after yourself and hearing aid equipment as usual.
Regards, Glyn
