Daewoo SV900

Can I record subtitles on a Daewoo SV900 in a non freeview reception area?

Thank you for your e-mail asking about recording subtitles with the
Daewoo SV900.
Sadly, the answer to your questions is 'no'.
The SV900 receives Digital TV broadcasts and the programs and subtitles that you would be able to record would be digital. So, if you are not in an area where you can receive 'Freeview' Digital TV then the whole idea 'grinds-to-a-halt'.
It is however possible to record the analogue '888' off-air subtitles (even if your parents TV set does not have 'Teletext') using a Telemole TAD150 - this combines the analogue TV broadcast signal and the subtitles broadcast signal into a format that you can record with a standard VHS cassette recorder. (It can also be used as a 'Closed Captions' decoder for commercially pre-recorded VHS tapes that have got 'Closed Captions').
You will find details for the Telemole on our online website at Telemole Teletext and Closed Caption Decoder
