Freeview is available across most of the UK (see note at bottom of page) but it is important to check coverage in your area before purchasing equipment. From experience we recommend the freeview website to check coverage, click here to visit the freeview website. It may be necessary to have a new TV arial fitted to receive digital freeview TV.
You can purchase suitable Freeview equipment from Connevans e-commerce website www.DeafEquipment.co.uk - don't forget to check out the 'SPECIALS' area for our latest low price 'SPECIAL' product deals which are only available from the website.

What you should know about FREEVIEW Television
Freeview television technology is very different to Analogue television. Currently, approximately 75% of the UK can receive freeview and this is unlikely to improve until about 2011 when the government intends to 'switch off' the analogue service. The transmission power of the freeview service may then be increased substantially.
The reason that freeview coverage is poor is that the transmitted power is limited to typically about 2% of that of analogue to avoid freeview interfering with analogue television - where the effects of any interference are much more visible. Therefore the range from a freeview transmitter at which an acceptable service may be received is limited. Additionally, in many areas, the presence of interfering analogue transmissions will prevent freeview transmissions from being decoded.
From experience we recommend the freeview website to check coverage before purchasing equipment, click here to visit the freeview website. If the Freeview website suggests there is not coverage at a particular postcode then the usual alternative options are to receive digital TV via cable or satellite.
For those wishing to have a much more technical explanation our design director has written a technical information document.
