Fonix Screen Capture Program

fcapture.zip

The Fonix Screen Capture Program FCapture.exe provides a convenient way to capture the currently displayed screen on a Fonix instrument. This can be useful for publishing the results of a test performed on a Fonix instrument because you will get a digital copy of the screen rather than having to try to scan in a copy of the printout.

To use the program, connect the instrument to the computer with an RS232 cable. Run the FCapture.exe program. Select the RS232 Com port you are using. Select the baud rate at which the instrument is operating.

Note: you can select the baud rate for the FP35 in the Main Default Configuration menu by pressing the Menu key from the power-on opening screen. The faster the baud rate setting, the faster the screen will be transferred to the computer.

When you are ready to capture the Screen image from the Fonix instrument, click the mouse on the Get Image button. Note: at 9600 baud the screen capture can take up to 15 seconds to be transferred (depending on how big the screen image is).

Once the image has been transferred, you can save by clicking on the Save Image button. Select the directory location where you want to save the file, and enter the filename you want to use, then click on save. The file will be saved as a Windows BMP file.

By default, a frame will be placed around the captured image so that you will know where the boundaries of the image are. If you do not want the frame to appear, uncheck the Frame check box in the top left corner of the screen.

When you are done using the program, click on the Quit button at the bottom left corner to end the program.

Currently, only the FP35 or 7000 support the ability to capture the screen via the RS232 port.
